Unveiling the richness of the diaspora :

The concept of En Route CaribEducation was conceived in 2019 when Julie recognized the limited options schools provided for international field trips, particularly for French language immersion. Considering her work in an urban setting with a diverse population, Julie believed that French students learning the language should have access to the French Caribbean—an area that shares similar cultural backgrounds with kids residing in urban regions. Similarly, she wanted to help children from of Caribbean background and heritage to reconnect with their origins; Consequently, En Route is one of the pioneers in kréyol immersion programs for teens.

Her mission focuses on embarking participants on a multifaceted exploration: Delving into the vibrant Caribbean world and the rich cultural heritage of the Diaspora.

En Route strives to provide participants with an authentic exploration of the diaspora by immersing them in the overseas French territories of the Caribbean and the United States. Through an educational, social, and cultural experience, students are fully engaged with different cultures. Our inclusive curriculum highlights the similarities between African Americans and West Indians. Additionally, our intention is to present a decolonized curriculum that allows local voices to share their stories, enabling students to understand the diversity within the diaspora.
