Packing smart helps ensure a comfortable, organized, and enjoyable educational travel experience. Use these recommendations to prepare for your Caribbean adventure with confidence.

Before You Go

Check the weather

Review the expected weather conditions for your destination before packing. Caribbean climates are generally warm, but rain showers can occur throughout the year.

Pack light

Bring only what you need. A lightweight suitcase and a comfortable backpack make traveling between activities much easier.

Review your itinerary

Your packing needs may vary depending on planned excursions, cultural visits, hiking opportunities, or beach activities.

Keep essentials accessible

Carry your passport, medications, travel documents, valuables, and one change of clothing in your carry-on bag.

Respect local culture

Pack clothing that is appropriate for educational visits, cultural sites, and local customs while remaining comfortable for warm weather.

Essential Travel Documents

Be sure to bring:

✔ Flight itinerary

✔ Travel insurance information

✔ Emergency contact information

✔ Copies of important travel documents

✔ Any required visas or travel authorizations

✔ Student identification (if applicable)

✔ Prescription information for medications

Travel tips

We recommend carrying both printed and digital copies of all important documents and storing them separately from the originals.

General Packing    Recommendation

These items are recommended for most destinations

Comfortable Walking Shoes

Bring sturdy, comfortable shoes suitable for walking tours, museums, historical sites, and outdoor activities.

Lightweight Clothing

Pack lightweight, breathable clothing made from cotton or moisture-wicking fabrics to stay comfortable in tropical weather.

Layering Pieces

A light sweater or jacket is useful for air-conditioned classrooms, museums, buses, and cooler evenings.

Rain Protection

A compact rain jacket or small umbrella is recommended, as brief tropical showers are common.

Swimwear

Bring appropriate swimwear for beach visits, marine activities, or hotel pools, along with a quick-drying towel if recommended.

Clothing for Activities

Depending on your itinerary, consider packing:

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • Modest attire for churches or cultural sites

  • Casual evening clothing

Sun Protection

We recommend packing:

  • Reef-safe sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Wide-brim hat or cap

  • Lip balm with SPF
